County seek midweek win on Club Appreciation Night

(June 12, 2024) — Oakland County FC are set to face top of the table Midwest United on Thursday June 13, at Royal Oak High School Stadium. Thursdays match is Club Appreciation night, where spectators wearing their clubs kit can get into the game free of charge.

The last time these 2 teams faced, Midwest United was able to defend their home field, with county’s Colin Arce taking the lead 13 minutes into the match. Midwest united would see two quick goals in the 58th and 75th minutes to hold off the attacking County. This time around, county will host Midwest United and look to seek sweet revenge and secure points from the team sitting with 22 points. County defenders Rocco Galati and Ryan Van De Winkle will look to shut down Midwest’s Eron Sylejmani, leading the league with 4+ goals.

After 6 matches played, County are tied for 5th in the division with a record of 2 wins and 4 losses after falling to AFC Ann Arbor this past Sunday. County are looking to bolster their attack after scoring 4 goals through 6 games. County hung with AFC Ann Arbor until the 62nd minute, where visiting player Luke Sowerby whipped a ball in which found the the head of mighty oak’s leading goal scorer, Andrew Dirakdijan, who found the back of the County net.

County had a number of chances throughout the game but AFCAA Goalkeeper Rhys Muller held a high line and scooped the ball up multiple times to stall county’s attacks. A bright spot throughout the evening came from Antigua Native (and Tiffin soccer star) Jahzihno O’Garro, who earned his second man of the match this season controlling and creating in his midfield position.
