(January 9, 2024) — Today, Oakland County Football Club is pleased to announce Steve Walker as its new Head Coach. Coach Walker is a vastly experienced coach with over two decades spent on the sidelines. The new OCFC boss is currently coaching at Vardar Soccer as their ‘07 MLS Next Academy team, in addition to being an assistant coach at Northwood University. OCFC leadership is beyond excited to welcome coach Walker into the OCFC family and to see where he can lead the club in 2024 and beyond.
The club and coach are in agreement that OCFC’s top job is the right opportunity at the right time. “I’ve been following the club for a while now and have a number of former players who have played at County.” says coach Walker. “[OCFC] has been a well run program and the level of players is fantastic, so the position is a natural progression for me and I’m very excited about it.”
Coach Walker brings impressive qualifications to the club while also possessing the demeanor, coaching style, and relationships needed to continue the club’s progress. “Steve’s very willing to collaborate and I feel we really mesh well,” states OCFC General Manager Vinnie Vasilevski. “Steve really wants to be here and do all the extra things that go into being at a club like ours.” This isn’t the first time Vasilevski and coach Walker have worked together. Vasilevski played for Coach Walker in his playing days at Northwood University in 2011.
