This week’s matches are shaping up to be the most important stretch of the season for Oakland County FC, as all 6 points are needed in order to stay in the running for the PLA East Playoffs. After dropping 3 straight league matches, OCFC is aiming to right the ship, and get back into winning form.
The stretch begins with the first matchup of the year against local rivals Carpathia FC (3rd in PLA East, 9pts). Both matches between the two sides last season were tightly contested, but Carpathia came out on top in both. OCFC is looking to get their first win in the all time series against Carpathia, and also pull even with them for 3rd place in the PLA East. The match takes place tonight at Avondale High School with a 7:30pm kickoff.
The 18 players available for tonight’s match are as follows:
Goalkeepers: Ludin Gonzales, Ruggero Verzillo
Defenders: Jeremy Stoychoff, Jason Leslie, Kevin Lencioni, Connor Ballantyne, Talal Hamodi
Midfielders: Saeed Tawil, Charlie Miles, Julian Birge, Adam Clauss, Hamidou Barry, Kevin Pinkos
For the second match of the week, the Purple and Gold return home to Royal Oak to take on PLA expansion side Toledo Villa FC. This will be the first match between the two clubs, as Toledo Villa is in its first year of competition, and currently in 4th place in the PLA East with 7 points. TVFC also fields a women’s team in the United Women’s Soccer league (UWS), which competes against clubs located in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. OCFC is looking forward to welcoming the opposition, which is one of three expansion sides that joined the Premier League of America for 2017, to Royal Oak this Saturday, and to continue the partnership with these clubs to continue to move the league forward.
