Oakland County FC swept the season series against Ole SC after a lopsided 5-0 victory in Grand Rapids. The result moved them to 2nd in the PLA East with 2 less games played than the leaders, RWB Adria.
A connection between two Oakland University alums, Brendan Woodfull and Alex Serwatka, broke the goalless deadlock in the 12th minute as Serwatka’s initial shot was saved by the Ole Goalkeeper before Woodfull smashed home the rebound. The goal was the Windsor (ON) native’s first goal for the Purple and Gold.
Just six minutes later Midfielder, Javier Steinwascher doubled the lead off of a Mario Morana throw in. The 18th minute goal was Steinwascher’s first league goal of the season and his second goal in all competitions.
Adam Clauss nearly added to the lead early in the second half before super sub Kaveon Dux capped off the scoring with a hat trick (80′, 84′, 88′). The goals were his first three for OCFC.
The back line of Connor Ballantyne and Jason Leslie put in a strong performance with Goalkeeper, Ludin Gonzales getting the clean sheet. Leslie, the leader in appearances by a Defender in 2016, returned to make his first appearance of the 2017 season.
